Howdy.

This is a treasure trove of many things Zach Hively. Happy exploring.

Desert Apocrypha receives Reading the West Book Award

My little poetry book Desert Apocrypha (Casa Urraca Press, 2021) just received the 32nd annual Reading the West Book Award.

This is a meaningful award to me — first of all, the shortlist is chosen by indie booksellers in the MPBIA. Second of all, it celebrates writers & publishers in this part of the country. And mostly, the final award was selected by reader votes. Which means people like you chose this as the poetry book of the year.

I’m wowed to be celebrated alongside other great writers like Joy Harjo. I’m tickled and touched that the book has spoken to so many of you.

You can get Desert Apocrypha directly from Casa Urraca, or you can order it from your favorite indie bookstore, or you can go to Bookshop.org (which also supports indie bookstores). And, you can watch the awards ceremony below. The poetry announcement begins about 10:40.

In gratitude,
Zach
